Intern Opening: Communications/Marketing Department Intern at NARM

NARM  is looking for interns for the upcoming term. NARM is an industry trade organization, located in New Jersey, best known for its annual industry convention. They hold a lot of other great educational and networking events and act as advocates for the industry. Its member base includes everyone from ISPs to major labels. Job Description:
NARM’s annual Convention is the leading conference for professionals in the music industry. Preparation for such an event requires a lot of hard work, including marketing of the event, programming and logistical planning, as well as working with our members to ensure that they have all of the information that they need to partake in the event. The Marketing/Communications Department intern will assist with not only the preparations for the annual Convention, including online marketing, advertising, and member communications, but will help with NARM’s year-round operations and initiatives. This position requires not only the on-site internship in NARM’s Marlton, NJ office, but will include being on-site for one week for the Convention in Los Angeles, CA in May 2011. Business expenses for the Los Angeles portion of the internship will be paid for by NARM.

● Assist with management of social media sites for NARM and all sub-brands

● Manage advertising traffic for Convention related advertising sales/trades

● Assist with maintenance of web site content

● Format photos and logos in Photoshop

● Write, proof, and edit copy for communications, as necessary, including speaker biographies and event promotional text

● Assist in layout of Convention “Official Guide” programming book

● Design various print and online advertising to spec

● Maintain various tracking documents for programming, speakers, and advertising

● Update internal Convention schedule

● Assist with some administrative tasks as necessary (photo copying, answering phones)

● Assist with various aspects of the NARM Convention in Los Angeles, including updating content on the NARM website, social networking, answering attendee questions, helping with panels, running errands, putting together attendee materials, and more.

Skills Required:
● Strong writing skills

● Professional phone manner

● Working knowledge of major social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)

● Software: Adobe Photoshop, QuarkXpress, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Word, Excel & Powerpoint

● Working knowledge of Google Docs

Skills Preferred:

● Experience with Word Press

● Experience with ConstantContact

● Experience with Mac operating systems

● Knowledge of Final Cut Pro

Hours Per Week:

Majors Preferred:
Music Industry, Marketing or Communications

Time Frame:
January – May 2011

$400/month stipend - mainly for full-time credit only.

Part of the position includes an expenses paid working trip to Los Angeles for the Convention.
